Waking up with anxiety can feel overwhelming, but it’s more common than you might think. Morning anxiety is often linked to the body’s natural rhythms and stress hormones, but the good news is, you can manage it effectively.

 

Why Does Morning Anxiety Happen?

1. Cortisol Levels Spike: Your body naturally releases cortisol, the stress hormone, in the morning to help wake you up. However, if your stress levels are already elevated, this spike can feel overwhelming.

2. Racing Thoughts: The quiet moments after waking can allow worries and “to-do list” items to rush in, creating a sense of urgency or dread.

3. Low Blood Sugar: After fasting overnight, your blood sugar levels drop, which can contribute to shakiness and feelings of anxiety.

4. Unresolved Stress: Lingering worries from the previous day may carry over into the morning, leaving you tense before you even get out of bed.

 

How to Fix It

1. Start with Deep Breathing
